THE BRIEF

Create a printed educational tool for aspiring Stylists.
While there are many different styles of haircuts, there are basic fundamentals that are used to create them. Develop an educational tool which teaches the basic principles of hair cutting.
Design a visual language unique to the cut craft book yet recognizable as part of a series of educational tools by Wella Professionals.

The Perfect CUT

IT TAKES PATIENCE MY FRIEND
Cutting hair is based on geometry. The Cut Craft book shows geometric shapes like circles, squares and triangles as its main design element. Shaped, cut and folded by the paper artist Jeff Nishinaka, they show a handmade, crafted yet precise quality which corresponds with the precision and patience needed to create  the perfect haircut.

It is the third of a series of three educational books, which explore the basics of hairdressing: Color, Cut and Style. The Color Craft book is comprised of the beautiful powder and paste textures, used by stylist for coloring. The Style Craft book shows liquids and foams associated with styling.
